Mindfulness A Career Choice

Mindful Career
Now that there are more and more big name companies like Google and Apple Computers investing in mindfulness in the workplace.

Many are now seeing that not only is being mindful a good choice for health but it's also a good choice for your career.

Living in the Present
The practice of mindfulness helps you to stay in the present. Keeps your mind focus on the moment and distractions do not influence the decisions you make both personally and professionally.

I know we are supposed to learn from the past but not if everything we think of as facts are actually decisions about how we felt at the moment. Every moment we make decisions based on survival instincts based on 'flight or fight mode'. We are not animals, well some of us are not animals and most certainly not you.

Happiness
How many times have you made a decision based on how you feel? Do you realise how much of a slave you are to your emotions? If you are not feeling happy all the time then how are your feeling? We make decisions that make us 'feel' good.

Co-dependency
Happiness is subjective, it's personal. We all know what happens when we hand over the controls to someone else so that they can control how we feel?

We survive by getting on with other people and many will admit from personal experiences that there are many socially complex layers to interacting with other people on a personal and professional level. Towards developing trust and communication.

Core Values
So what are your core values? How did you get them and are they right for you? Sometimes we live by tradition, by religion, by philosophy and sometimes by the needs of the moment.  Do you live by the values of your of your role models, your friends, your employees, your heroes, your family values, society or you just happy to see which way the wind blows? What defines you as a human being?

Usually what we have experienced will define our core values. We are stimulated by our environment, and our perception of ourselves in that environment.
So where does that leave you?

Investing in You
You were raised by someone, until you got to the point where you could look after yourself. Now you are even more responsible for the decisions you have to make for yourself and others?

What is it worth to you to know you could make a small investment in yourself everyday and feel better about your life both personally and professionally? Like a lot of people I read a lot of books and it was nice to see that there was a way out if I was willing to make the change. I thought buying and reading was enough. I thought that by having the knowledge I would and could change. All I got was a better understanding of what was going on but not on how to apply what I was reading to everyday moment of my life. I wouldn't always remember what I read.

Mindfulness
What if you could be taught a simple method of practice. A method so simple that it would be with you all the time, every moment of your life. Making you feel better? What if it helped with all the distractions that would normally have you off-keel and going around and around in circles. What if you could have the key to unlock all the potential in your life?

Look at the following companies that have invested in mindfulness for their employees:

Self maintenance
How do you maintain a healthy attitude to life? Doing this is as easy as getting up to go to the toilet. Going to the toilet is healthy and is something we do because we know and acknowledge and accept that it is necessary to go for good maintenance and repair of our body. Mindfulness has been called mental hygiene. I know and many others know that since they have been practising it that their lives are nolonger as stressed out as it used to be. The spend less time mulling over the past and criticising the lives of others as well as their own. Fear is nolonger the enemy because they nolonger fear what is within them or anyone else. MIndfulness sets you free.

Too Many Thoughts In Your Head?

Mindful Living

Too many thoughts in your head?

Too Many Thoughts In Your Head?
Don't you wish you could make all the different thoughts you have running around your head stop? Does it get worst at night when you are trying to sleep? Do you suffer with insomnia because of it?

Perfect Night Sleep
What make's a perfect night sleep? What keeps you awake at night? What is it that you are thinking too much about? Is it something from the past you cannot change or something in the future that you are worried about? We all go through life changes and changes can be difficult? We think we can manage, we think we should be able to cope? But not if we do not have 'Life Skills' to survive in this modern day jungle.

Life Skills
In this modern day jungle full of fast living we are missing the world we are living in. We are letting life past us by without evening noticing the moments of joy.

So what skills do you need to be able to enjoy living in the moment? You need skills to focus on the now and to let the past be the past and the future take care of itself.

For many of us stress, anxiety and depression affects us directly and indirectly as we come into contact with others in our daily activities.  When do we ever stop?

Stopping! Enjoy the moment
Have you ever had so much fun that you didn't notice the the passing of time? Have you ever said to yourself or someone else, 'Where has the year gone?'.

What were your favourite moments of last year or will be of this year? When was the last time you stopped to enjoy what you were doing in the moment? When was the last time you took a leisurely walk and ended up in somewhere new? When was the last time you tried something new, something different? When was the last time you really savoured life in it's entirety?

All too often we let the moments slip away. It's why we all love and crave going on holidays to become so preoccupied with something new we can forget the old way of life, just for a brief moment.

The only problem with going on a holiday is that after it is over you go back to having the life you left behind in the first place. Most of us tend to end up getting depressed and constantly trying to relive the dream of the holiday by telling anyone who will listen all about it, over and over again. Until we have no one else to tell and we end up listening to other people's adventures wishing they were our own.

The Otherside
Is the grass greener on the otherside? I don't think it is. What we fail to miss is the moment, what we fail to notice is the 'present moment'. We live in such a fast paced life that we don't slow down long enough to smell the air, see the sky, listen, feel the world, the universe around us. There's no moment like the present and all you have to do is to open your eyes to see it. Because it is only one breath away.

Mindfulness Meditation is one of the popular ways of living in the present moment. It's the hardest method to practice because it is the simplest method to practice.

What do you have to do? Well! All you have to do is to focus on your breath, keep your attention there, and when you notice your attention is on something else you then bring your attention back to focussing on your breath. That's all there is too it. That'll be $6,000,000.00 please.

This simple practice of breathing is 2,500 years old and they new back then what we have just found out with the latest medical technology. That if you focus your attention on your breathing 20 minutes a day you will change your outlook on life to be far more positive because you will be less distracted by the crap in your life.

Breathing is the essence of life, without it well life would be just over. But for even something so simple we take it for granted and don't appreciate the tools available to us to practice self maintenance to enhance the longevity of life. Not only for ourselves but for the lives of those around us. Because if we are at peace with ourselves then we will be at peace with our enemies.

There are no magic pills to make you skinny or fatter, take matters in to your own hands. Talk to me.

Know Thyself and be Happy

We think we know who we are but do we? How much of your life is on autopilot

Do you know how many times you have just jumped from doing one thing then another without even thinking about it?

Autopilot Test
Try this autopilot test, every time you are about to go and do something, before you do it, breath deeply.

Results of the Autopilot Test
You either managed to do it a couple of time then forgot to do it or you didn't do it at all? But it should have brought to your attention how often we just move from doing one thing to another without thinking?

Choosing an Alternate path?
How can you choose a different path if you don't stop long enough to stop rushing from one thing to another?

Choosing a different path means choosing the better path based on what you think and not what you feel you should do. Better to be proactive than reactive mindfulness helps you to easily choose on alternate path based on what you know of what is actually going on rather than you relying on feelings and memories from your past to tell you what is going on.

We live on autopilot, we mindless about what we are doing. If we lived a mindful life we would be less stressed, less anxious and less likely to be depressed. All of your relationships with others from our past, present and future would be in balance. We would be aware of the feelings an thoughts that control our life, that controls our behaviour, that controls how we think and we feel.

Our thoughts and feelings feed of each other and can create a happy cycle or create a horrible cycle that we can't get out of. Mindfulness encourages us to observe our thoughts and feelings with a beginners mind, in a kind, caring, compassionate and friendly way.

Mindfulness teaches you to let go of that which would harm you. You do this by focussing on your breathing whilst you observe the feelings in your body and the thoughts in your mind without touching them and end up asking

  • why do I feel/think like this
  • why am I feeling/thinking like this
  • why did I feel/think like that
  • will I feel/think like that

Because when you do, you start going down memory lane, waking up dead negative memories from the past that just make you feel worst and before you know it you are either in flight or fight mode and feeling angry, stressed, anxious or depressed or all of them.

When you are happy you don't think about how you got to be happy because you are too busy enjoying the moment of being happy.

Your mind is not investigating the past and nor is it building up 'what if disaster scenarios' about the future.

The great thing about being mindfully happy is that the more you practice the easier it is to not have to think about being mindful because you do it automatically. Because it makes you feel good, you just keep on doing it and you and your mind love it. You have time to get to get to know you, to get to know people better because you are living in real time, not the past or the future, but the present time.

It's a wonderful life living without those negative voices in your head messing with your mind and emotions. You get to breath, get to feel healthy and happier than you ever felt before.

How to Start?
Starting means doing something, there's no magic pill, there's no magic key on the keyboard, you are going to have to do something for yourself.

Working on your own
Some of us can work on our own. We can use online resources like

It is important to be able to work alone but it is also important to work in groups and be with other people. Try to find a meditation group in your area or a mindfulness course in how to become a mindfulness practitioner and of course you can attend my free mindfulness classes at http://www.hng.org.uk/index.php/stressproject on Thursdays starting at 3.30pm, arrive early to get a place, it's really popular.

New Year's Day, 1st January 2014, decided to have breakfast but didn't want porridge. Hadn't done much of a shopping so decided to nip out to the local Tesco Express.

I was happily surprised it was open but I would have been more surprised if it had been closed.

You ever eaten food then wondered why a few hours later you are hungry? Every had anyone complain that you are a slow eater?

A lot of animals bolt, gulp, eat quickly or whatever? If you never taste what is in your mouth, what was the point of putting anything in there?

If you are going to eat then you may as well eat the best that you can afford? Your body is a temple, you should give it decent offerings.

The stupidity of it all is that you have a life time to savour so many different types of foods that you could have anamazing adventure?

That is exactly it, life is an adventure, from the day we were born till the day we die, no two events in our lives will ever be the same. There will always be something unique about each event, about that moment in our lives.

When you are asleep your body is on autopilot, how much of your life are you enjoying apart from sleeping when you are asleep? Not much, so why be asleep on autopilot whilst you are awake and miss out on your life? Turn off the autopilot, take control of your life and enjoy your journey through the skies, as the sky is not the limitation to your dreams.

So what does all of this have to do with me having a big breakfast on the 1st of january? Well for one I wanted to have a big breakfast but I didn't just want to have any old breakfast. I wanted to have a Savoy breakfast. Good quality ingredients. So when I went to Tesco Express. I decided to buy the best quality ingredients. I eat less but I spend more money and I savour with relish each meal.

I now set the rules and the laws governing when and how I eat. By not buying cheap food, cheap food means less nutrition. I need, you need, we all need nutrition to live.

I changed my thinking, instead of reverse economics, spend less and try to buy more, I spend more, buy less, and get more from my pleasures in life because I am worth it.

How to find perfect Love

How to find perfect Love

Mindful Living

How to find perfect Love

Everything that lives has it's own way of giving and needing love.

There are many supporting organisations that can help us find what we want when we feel lost:

Relate Council - relationships
Mind - mental health
Samaritans - Personal help
National Health Service - Healthcare

But what about getting help when we don't even have abible to show us how to navigate our way through life. Our life can be seen to be a universal church of life

At times we feel lost and that life is like a merry go round, is that a euphemism for the wheel of life? We may not even know the question so how can we find the answers?

Well if that is the case? What we going to do, more to the point what are you going to do or should I be asking what do you want me to do? What would you like anyone to be able to do?

Sometimes we talk, we talk to family and friends, we to colleagues, we talk to strangers and we talk to those that can help us and sometimes we talk to no one else but ourselves. So what should we say when we talk yo ourselves?

If building confidence was easy then we would have not lost the confidence in the first place? Confidence comes from building self esteem? So how do we avoid low self esteem? Your first step towards repairing and maintaining self esteem is to know that just as we eat nutritional foods to maintain and repair our bodies. Then also the spirit must also receive nutrition to repair and maintain itself. So self maintenance is extremely important.

How do you maintain a healthy attitude to life? Doing this is as easy as getting up to go to the toilet. Going to the toilet is healthy and is something we do because we know and acknowledge and accept that it is necessary to go for good maintenance and repair of our body.

We can talk to friends, family, strangers, support groups, read lots of books, watch YouTube videos. But what you need is someone who is there for you when you need them?

Has the capability to help you because of their professional training in hypnotherapy & mindfulness as well as their own personal life experiences.

At the ripe old age of 50, I've been around the block a few times. I've helped many people both personally and professionally.
